Kaitiakitanga - environmental stewardship
The care of Papatūānuku and our tāiao is integral to our role as kaitiaki of the whenua (land). Manawa Karioi has led the native reforestation efforts for much of our whenua.
Manaakitanga - supporting communities
In the event of a natural disaster, the Marae works with the Wellington Regional Emergency Management Office as an Emergency Assistance Centre (EAC). In the past we have also received referrals for emergency housing.
